Thailand and Vietnam: two of our neighbouring countries
Thailand is to the south-west of Laos. It has a population of about 70 million people. The capital of Thailand is Bangkok. It is also Thailand’s biggest city, with a population of more than 6 million.
Thailand has a hot, humid climate. During the hot season, from March to May, the temperatures in Bangkok can reach 38’C. Daytime temperatures in the rainy season are between 30 ໍC and 35 ໍC.
Laos shares its eastern border with Vietnam. Vietnam has a larger population than Thailand. Vietnam’s population is about 90 million. The capital of Vietnam is Hanoi, in the north. However, Ho Chi Minh City is the biggest city in the south of Vietnam, with a population of more than 7 million.
Vietnam has a varied climate, similar to Laos and cooler than Thailand. The north of Vietnam is cool and sometimes cold, but the south is warm or hot all year round. Ho Chi Minh City has an average temperature of 27 ໍC.
